Nursery: Stage 2

Pom poms are up! Still need crib mattress and bedding..
I was resisting the urge to allow black in what was once our strictly gray/white/purple nursery.. but I do love this chair and we already owned it so that saves us money.. and I think that's swell.

Hung the canvases to make sure they were good size-wise. Still having our friend custom paint them for us! So excited for that!

Cutie baby birdie clothes and shoes...

Loving the "owl bank" and curtains.

Also throwing in a black and white rug that we already had.. saving us money and lookin' cute at the same time!

So what do you guys think of the addition of black in to the room? Too obvious(we always have black and white everything)? Liking the bold and contrast elements? How about the nursery in general.. too girly? Not girly enough? I always try for a balance of "cute" & "cool"... I think we're pulling it off but I'd love your input. I can't wait to finish it off completely (bedding, shelves, accents, painted canvases) and show you guys the room in it's entirety! At the same time I almost don't want to finish it because it's so fun decorating for the bird...

Sigh

  1. i think everything looks really cute. one thing i'd think about though is that your baby will only be a baby for such a short time so spending so much time and money on things they outgrow like changing tables and cribs (unless it converts to a toddler bed) isnt always the best idea. it looks like your color scheme and design ideas arent like super babyish (jungle animals, balloons, etc) so even as a preschooler and beyond the room will still seem appropriate :] and damn those bumbo chairs are so cute. i got one for liv and i swear she used it like 8 times and then learned to climb out of it.

  2. thanks! yea it's a 3 in 1 crib so it converts to toddler bed and the up to six yr old bed! We got the changing table off of craigslist for cheap and D cut it to fit the nursery style and painted it himself with paint we already had.

I love the bumbos too! I saw a red one recently and want it but we have the lilac and ones enough already! They're just so cute!

  6. No i definitely DON'T want it too girly! I'd rather it lean more towards cool! I wish you were here too.. although there wouldn't be enough room in the delivery room for you 'cause my mom will be here.. lobbies aren't fun anyway. ;o)

  10. What an adorable room...it's definitely not overly precious, so it's something she'll grow into. my best friend's having a baby girl, so every time I see this blog I'm like 'I HAVE TO GET HER ____" This time it was those poms. Good job!

  13. loving this nursery! I am trying to find the balance between feminine and modern without being too overly little girlish. This room definitely serves as inspiration for me and the hubs. Great job! And finding things you already own to work into it make it that much better!
