Just thought I'd show you guys some of the rad stuff baby bird got from our friends/fam!
Some of the little clothes..
Little white dresses..
I frickin' LOVE baby bikinis!! and of course that one-piece is adorbs!
Another one-piece.. bows are so cute gahhh!
A vintage one-piece swimsuit my mom found.. there's a little whale on the front.
Eiffel Tower shirt, icecream iron on, that purple thing is "baby paper" covered in a soft fabric that makes a crunchy sound and baby's apparently love it, the polka dot blanket underneath is super soft, and a picture nightlight.
We did end up getting the fisher-price rock n play sleeper and we decided to use it as our bassinet! It's a great height to put next to the bed and I got a great reference from Christy about it.
Cutest dish drying grass I've ever not grown..
Boon baby stuff for eating/drinking.

Today was beautiful and we had no plans so we hit up the beach! Actually we ended up going to the pool afterwards too because it was windy and the ocean was too cold to swim in. I seriously can't tell you how good the water feels when you're pregnant.

UGH I want a beer! And I don't even like beer!

Baby Bird: 33 weeks, 1 day
I love D's ridiculous hat..

After the beach & pool we went to my follow up doctor's appt and he had GOOD NEWS! My EEG test showed no signs of seizures or unusual activity! Woot woot!
The not so good news is, we're still not sure what's causing my little spells. Most likely it is just from third trimester pregnancy and everything will go away once baby bird arrives. But, in the meantime they want to keep an eye on me so I have another appt in a month to make sure it's not getting worse. Either way, I'm just thrilled to have passed the EEG! Hollaaaaa!

Hope you all are having a great start to your week!

Baby Shower #1/Hedwig and The Angry Inch

I'm so immensely grateful to my girls that hosted the shower and the lovely guests and lovely gifts and love for the bird. But to say there wasn't a bit of a SNAFU would be a lie, and this blog is a documentation of the pregnancy- good and bad. You all know how important it is to me that we keep the baby's name a secret until she's born. Well, the baby's name was frickin yelled out at the shower to everyone! Not everyone heard it so I immediately announced that it's a secret and for those that did know(somehow)/just heard it to not repeat it. Apparently someone didn't really care and yelled it out again anyway. I had to leave the room so that I wouldn't get into a bitch fight while 8 months pregnant, and I still can't believe it even happened. To say that I was hurt would be an understatement. It was really hard going back in that room with a happy face for the next hour and a half, let me tell ya.
With that being said, I realize that in the end we're going to tell everyone the name in a couple of months anyway so, whatever right? It was more the action than the outcome that upset me, and that's just something I'll have to get over. So it goes.
D didn't take a lot of pictures at first, and out of the pics he did take these were the best, clearest shots.

The room was adorable.
We ended up writing "yay for baby bird!" on this chalkboard..

Those are cupcakes under all that frosting..

Opening presents..

Kissin' on my friend's adorable 1 year old, Landon.

I snapped these shots with my phone before the shower and also while we were at D's performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I didn't even know his band was playing as well until we got there. We also didn't know that we'd be out until 2am! Thank goodness I brought my flats because it was a looooong effing day.

33 Weeks

This week baby bird could be as long as 20 inches and about 5lbs. Her main development is the growth of her nails, which now reach the end of her fingertips and may even curl over the tip. She's gotten a lot stronger in the last week or so and sometimes her movements and kicks are so uncomfortable they kind of hurt. Nothing I can't handle, but definitely a sign of how big she's getting.
As for mama bird... same old same old. Heartburn every night, RLS, difficulty breathing and definitely emotional. The past couple of weeks have had highs and lows but unfortunately more lows than any other weeks of this pregnancy. Luckily I have D around for support, but I have to admit I've missed my family more than ever lately. I can't wait for my mom to fly out. Nothin' like having your mama around when you're about to become a mama yourself.

There have been a couple of times that I've cried so hard I could tell that you felt it. For this, I'm so sorry and can't even explain how guilty it's made me feel. It's the hormones! They make you dramatic! But the good news is, these were just a few minor speed bumps in the road to meeting you. I know that all of my intense feelings of joy and love have far outweighed any hint of negativity. We all have tough days, something you will learn for yourself soon enough, but no matter what we'll always have each other to lean on. Not to mention your pops really knows how to make a good bowl of ice cream and cuddle you to your heart's content. So, take as many moments to be a cry baby that you need because I'll remember some from this past week and well... I got yo back girl. Yo mama ain't raisin' no sissy! BUT sometimes a girl's got to cry it out.

Anxious/Papa Bird Quote

D's at a class for work this morning and I'm busy trying to get myself ready for this afternoon and I'm so anxious. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like it's my birthday or something! Little kid style! I'm more excited about all my guests coming together than the presents and all I wanna do is stuff my face with cupcakes and sweet treats. Were all you mama's this excited for your shower?

I'll post pictures later tonight because we have to go straight from the shower to D's last performance of Hedwig and The Angry Inch. Any of you guys ever heard of it? They've been putting on theater performances of it here for a few years now and D's almost always been the drummer for the band. I think he missed out on one year. Anyway, my man's got talent! Speaking of my man..

Papa Bird Quote:
"I can't wait until insert baby bird's name is big enough to walk and hold my little finger. Like I'm a giant gorilla!"

Happy Saturday friends!

Living On The Edge- Not Really

This morning D had to go into work to have something on his truck checked out so I tagged along. I felt like living on the EDGE this morning, so we stopped at Starbucks and I treated myself to an iced chai. Yes, there's caffeine in it. No, the baby hasn't gone into shock, she's fine. Afterwards we went to Target and I couldn't resist buying a couple of things for the bird.. as if we need any more clothes. Then we stopped at Aloha Salads for some grub and all natural pineapple sodas. Now we're at home touching up some paint and getting ready to go back out because I forgot to buy something to wear for our first baby shower tomorrow! I'm so excited!

Iced Chai... so effing good!
Polka dot onesie & owl shirt. I really need to chill on the bird stuff..
Our view from the loft seating area above Aloha Salads.
At home- D playing around inside one of the Target registry gift bags. That looks like my kind of present! ❤
Hope you all have a great start to your weekend!

Kicks & Rolls

baby bird gettin' crazy: 32 weeks
This shit is bananas!
Cute, active, healthy bananas..

p.s. only 50 days left on the baby countdown. wasn't it just yesterday that i posted this?

Calling All Mamas!

I need your advice! D and I have yet to buy something for the baby to sleep in during the early months and I was wondering what all of you use/d. We put a sleeper rocker on our registry that says your baby can sleep in it all night, so I've been reading reviews on it just in case someone buys it, but it doesn't seem like anyone really used it for more than just a nap time sleeper. Did any of you use something like this? Or do you have any good suggestions? We already have a pack-n-play but I refuse to have that bulky thing set up in our room all the time and don't have that much room on my side of the bed anyway. Advice would be much appreciated!

Speaking of registry items, we've already received some in the mail! I'm so grateful for the friends and family in my life and I can't tell you how much it means to us to receive so much love for baby bird!
My cousin sent us this adorable diaper bag. She was so worried because she bought it before she read this post that I put up a while back. I'd just like to clarify that I am not anti-diaper bags! My point was simply that I wouldn't spend a lot of money on a diaper bag just because it's an "actual diaper bag." This one is awesome and I'm probably going to use the shite out of it! Thank you Lisa and fam! xoxo
Eva-Lani sent this book and boppy/bobby cover! She also sent some other gifts but there's no point in seeing pictures of little necessities like wipes, etc (though of course they're still MUCH appreciated). Thank you love!
Such a cute book..
This is by far my favorite boppy pillow cover I've ever seen.

I've been lounging around all week at home because I'm not allowed to drive until we get the EEG test results back. At first it was great, but now I'm starting to get really antsy. I can't wait for tomorrow because it's the start of our weekend(yep 4 days for D again). Plus, my first baby shower with all of my old coworkers is Saturday and I can't wait to see everyone! I feel like it's been forever. We used to have get-togethers at my old house where I lived with roommates, and then our old apartment, all the time! Then I had the "all day sickness" from hell in early pregnancy, which led to my being a complete hermit, which then led to getting ready to move, and now we still haven't even had a house warming party because we're still not done with the new place! I can't wait to be the regular meeting spot again once things are in order. Especially with a cute little birdie to show off and have everyone love on. ;o)

Might post a video later.. I caught some crazy footage of baby's kicks and rolls!
Happy Thursday!

August 25, 2010

It's a miracle. I woke up this morning to skinny, normal, not swollen ankles. So nice to see them again.

Oh and the bird wanted me to tell you guys "chirp!"
I think that's hello..

Wow wow wee waaa! At this point I can't even remember what it was like to have a small waist. Here's hoping I can get back down to that post-baby bird!

Yesterday's appt went well.. except for the part at the end where I'm supposed to be lying still, not talking and keeping my eyes closed. Instead, the doctor asks me to open and close my eyes but he never told me he'd do that during the test and he was looking at me with a sort of worried look on his face. My reaction? Straight up anxiety attack! My mind immediately starts going places it shouldn't- something's wrong with me! he's checking to make sure I'm ok! whatever's wrong with me is happening right now! i'm gonna die! - and basically my heart started beating so fast that I couldn't breathe and had to interrupt the test. Luckily it was only the last minute of it, so he stopped it, explained to me that nothing was wrong and that it was routine to see how the patient responds to commands, then tested me for the last minute with some weird strobe light thing. He said I didn't ruin it but I still felt really bad.. and embarrassed. We're supposed to go in for the results next Monday but I'm going to call today in case they've had any cancellations and try to book an earlier appt.

Last night was the very first time I asked D to run out to the store really late to fetch me a craving! Pretty damn good if I do say so myself, I held out until month 8! Plus, I went with him so he wasn't really my errand boy anyway. What was the craving you ask? Chips Ahoy cookies with white fudge chunks! He was pretty confused when I came home and only ate one though. I just felt so bad eating sugar that late at night. Today on the other hand, I'll probably make a meal of them...

New Papa Bird Quotes:
"Excuse me babies.."
"Alright let's go.. bring the baby!"
"I'm gonna sleep like a insert baby bird's name here tonight"
"Don't worry, the boys said they would help me scare off suiters"
(if i'm pouting) "Ohhh don't be a insert baby bird's name here!"

Ha! there are more but unless you knew her name you wouldn't get it.
That boy of mine is silly.
I love it.

Weekend Recap

I'd like to first start off by saying, I'm scared for my baby name's sake! I've already explained in detail my feelings on this whole baby name thing and we've had the name picked out for f.o.r.e.v.e.r. The name will not change. But seriously I just found yet another blogger that used the name, and then there's a blogger who has yet to announce their baby name, but it seems very possible that it could be the same as ours. I really really really hope it's not... blah.

On to the weekend:
Friday evening was D's cd release show and he had the day off from work as it was "Statehood Day." So, he spent the entire day building/painting this merch table (to set up at the venue and lay out all the merchandise inside to sell, all fancy like). This wasn't quite the finished product but you get the idea. It was fully loaded with rope lights and it's own folding legs and you could close it up and lock it. Very impressive for a day's work. It was pretty much the creme de la creme of merch tables. Damn that boy is good!
Mama & Baby Bird: 31 weeks, 6 days
(Side note: I was leaning on my left leg so that's why my foot looks oddly contorted haha whatevs)
Saturday we woke up exhausted because we stayed out until 2am for the release party the night before. After lounging around in bed for a few hours we finally got ready for our day and headed out to lunch.
We went to a nearby Thai restaurant because I was craving Thai Iced Tea so hard all week. Delicious does not begin to describe how good it was to satisfy that craving..
Before our 4D ultrasound appt we had some time to kill, so we stopped at Goodwill and I scored this adorbs bathing suit for the bird! It was only $2 and has no stains. It actually looks like it's never been used. Love those tiny strawberries..
Saturday evening was LJ's bday party (Hannah's hubby). It was a "Gamer's Paradise" theme (right up my alley.. I actually love video games) and they went all out. Hannah made these effing awesome cupcakes to look like a Pacman screen and they were so cool I almost couldn't eat them.
Guests playing Mario Kart on the biggest screen of all time..
They set up a projector and a huge white sheet as the screen to play the Wii on. There were multiple gaming stations and different gaming consoles. This projector was set up outside on their patio by the pool. They have the best damn party house ever..
Sunday morning I woke up to D being the cutest husband/dad ever (as usual). He was watching the "Caring For Your Newborn" DVD that they gave us at the ultrasound appt and my heart couldn't have felt more full so early in the morning.. I immediately grabbed my phone to snap this shot.
Our view of the room at Lamaze class. Our teacher is Janis Bush, the same woman that gave us the Birth Center Tour. She was awesome, but I already knew she would be. So glad we brought pillows, because we were sitting on this floor for almost 3 hours straight. The random flowers and plant in the middle of the room crack me up.
After Lamaze we ate at Genki Sushi (no I did not eat raw fish, I ate avocado maki and a teri chicken bowl with rice) and had a delicious triple chocolate dessert.
The rest of our Sunday was spent grocery shopping and lounging after a busy weekend. We watched The Business of Being Born and it scared me even more to think that if the psychic is right and I do end up having a c-section well.. that would suck.

Today, I'm just hanging out at home until my doctor's appt. D's leaving work early to take me. I have to lie there for over an hour for this thing so I'm really glad he'll be there in the room with me.
Hope you're all having a great Monday!
