From Rags To Riches

Ok, more like "from couch to headboard."

Stage 1: The couch we found on craigslist that we couldn't use as a couch because of all the wood damage. Not sturdy and reupholstering it would've been a bitch.
Stage 2: Ripped back off couch, ripped off all material/batting, cut off rotten wood on the ends, sanded, cleaned.
Stage 3: Added new wood to the bottom and painted all the wood white.
Stage 4: Added an old sheet over springs, new batting over the sheet, stapled batting and new gray material(it's velvet-y), and hot glued thin white rope all the way around trim over the staples.
Stage 5: FINISHED, HUNG & EFFING AWESOME!
Our little birdie snugglefest will be extra luxurious tonight!

  4. well i'm not sure what you're working with as far as the skeleton of the headboard goes.. but if it springs like in the third picture of this post.. we just laid an older sheet that we had over the springs, pulled it smooth and tight across, stapled at the edges on the wood, then cut off the extra fabric. as far as the batting, there was no "stuffing" involved for us.. we bought it as one huge roll of the thickest they had. then we just pulled it straight and smooth over the sheet, stapled the edges on the wood..etc. the same process as above and we also did that with the final fabric that's on top. hope that helped a little! ;o)

  6. See, this is exactly the kind of thing that I'd get all excited about doing and then end up with half of a headboard speckled with paint and yards of torn fabric. :) This is AMAZING. I hope you enjoyed the h out of sleeping last night!
