As most of you know I already posted about Rowan's "tattoo femme" theme nursery a while back but I never gave any details about the room before because it was a busy day and a rushed post. I thought I'd show you some of the temporary changes that have happened in the past couple of months. I cannot get enough of decorating our little nest and the nursery is by FAR the most fun to do. Plus it's my favorite thing to post about! Especially when I have a bad case of "blogger's block" like today haha.
The biggest change is the swap out of chairs. This is a temporary change. We only took the bigger chair downstairs and brought up our rocker because it was a more comfy seat for our visiting family. I fully intend on swapping the chairs out again because although it seems like the rocker is more nursery/get-baby-to-sleep friendly, it has a very low back and not enough support to spend a lot of time in it. We already owned the black chair and the black and white rug, so we used them in an effort to save money.
The pom poms above the crib are one of my favorite parts of the room (besides Rowan's custom painted name canvases) and were the first things I knew I wanted in the room before I was even pregnant! I'd love to say that I made them but I didn't have enough patience so I ordered them off of Etsy. Even then, I still had to spend an hour and a half carefully "fluffing" them open once they came in the mail. It was worth it!
We put as much DIY, personalization, and love into the nursery as we could. We painted the shelves and the bottom wood of the crib gray(was originally a natural brown wood color and purchased from Wal-Mart's online store) to match the color scheme, painted her name canvases for the wall with the help of a friend, painted the side table(originally natural wood color and purchased from Salv Army), and D even cut/repaint the changing table which was originally a sleigh style(found on craigslist- and cheap!).
We just added some black canvas boxes to the shelves to tuck away her clothes/shoes/etc(from Wal-mart).
We decided to put Rowan's sweet ride out on display (instead of stored in her closet until she can "drive" it) and it's now doubling as a bookshelf! My mom found this car at an antique store in Kentucky and sent it to us. Score!
I also wanted to better show you some of the tiniest details in the room that I love. The curtain rod ends and tie backs bring a couple more touches of feminism. Not that it needed more.. but I think we managed to maintain a good balance of "pretty" and "cool." The rod ends are from Target and the tie backs are from Urban Outties (along with the gorgeous ruffle curtains)!
I also added more artwork to bring other colors into the room (just gray/black/white/purple- overkill!) and incorporate more tattoo inspired aspects to our theme! I love these prints because they're still very baby-like and cutesy.. skulls and all!
I spy a hardcover book of the entire pregnancy portion of TART.. talk about the ultimate baby book! I'm also printing out Rowan's first year after she turns 1!
We hope you like the little additions and transformations. I'm sure we'll continue to change things up throughout the year. Decorating this room is just too fun to let it come to an end..
