The Happenings

Hi! It's been awhile since I've given you guys a real update on life. I'm addicted to pictures and my blog has become quite the picture book... so here's a little text:

- It is now official that we will be living in Hawaii for another year. We were hoping D could transfer to San Diego but it didn't work out before our lease was up so we renewed. Maybe next summer! (not that I can complain much about staying in HAWAII)
- Rowan has been crawling for awhile now, as well as pulling up onto EVERYTHING and she finally has her first tooth barely cutting through(pictured near the bottom of the page). She's taking teething like a champ and is still a really chill, happy little babe.
- As far as music goes: we saw our bassist at the wedding we attended back in April and made plans to have practice that week, but he got sick so we postponed. Since then I've yet to hear back from him so I guess we'll just have to find a new bassist ::wink:: I've been playing guitar and trying to write songs in my spare time but I'm such a perfectionist and way too hard on myself. Sometimes I record a song that I hate in the moment just so that I can test myself and listen to it a week later. By then I like it, then that gives me motivation all over again. It's a vicious and long cycle, but worth it in the end when you have something you're proud of. One day I'll take the stage again.
- We've decided to make the guest room our office so I'll be blogging about that process of redecorating. I'm way too excited about this.
- Somebody commented recently that they wanted to know if I work out and how I fit it into my day. The answer? Nope.
When I was pregnant I gained exactly 25lbs. Within the first 2 weeks of having Rowan I lost 17 of those lbs from breastfeeding alone. After my 6 week check-up I got the ok from my doc to work out again and I did for about a month with my mom while she was still here and lost another few lbs. After that, I went back to my old ways of eating whatever I wanted(junk food) and not working out. I gained back a little bit of weight but it wasn't until a recent reflection staring back at me in the mirror of a Neiman Marcus dressing room that I realized I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MY BODY. No, I do not think I'm "fat" nor do I want to lose a bunch of weight, but I have a lot of toning to do so tonight I'm starting Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred! I'll be taking before and after pictures but I won't be posting about it all until I get through the 30 days. I'll also be eating healthier and I am not happy about the fact that I can't eat an entire bag of potato chips as a meal anymore. I like junk food; hamburgers, fries, ice cream, chips, candy bars, burritos, bacon, spam musubi, carbs, sugar, salt oh my! It's what dreams are made of. But this is just something I have to suck up and deal with so that I can take off my shirt while standing under a fluorescent light again without wanting to drop a tear or two.

So there you have it! Life as of now, in a nutshell.
NOW BACK TO THE PICTURES.

  1. The 30 Day Shred is great! I wish I'd gotten through it all, but I let excuses take over. I still have it, though, so I need to start it again. Good luck!

  4. As always, gorgeous photos. Rowan is just the cutest/prettiest/happiest. Seriously.

I totally understand how you feel about wanting to shed some pounds. It seems like when you get close to where you want to be health and weight wise, it's always the hardest to get to. It's like you're so close, yet so far away. I totally have faith that you can meet your goals and I'm rooting for you!

But just so you know, you are GORGEOUS and don't need to change one bit... as long as you're happy with yourself, that's all that matters! <3

  10. Yay for an update! On the poll I voted for 'writing' because as much as I love your pictures (and I really really do) I'm interested in hearing about your life as well :) Good for you for recording some new songs - my husband is in the process of doing that lately and I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

And I feel you on the weight issue - I looked at pictures of myself from 8 years ago or so and realized that I'm not looking how I want to. Hopefully that'll be motivation enough for me :) Good luck to you!

  20. omg, she is just a doll!! i have the jillian 30 day shred and did it for about a week and then stopped. idk why i can't stick to home workouts. i have to physically get my ace to the gym or else i won't do crap, unless it's running. i too am getting a little frustrated with my body, esp since we plan on trying for another baby soon. i've lost all definition and i'm disappointed...with myself! you, however, do not even need to worry about it!! so stinking thin, i hate you! no, actually, i REALLY love you! haha. anyway, i'm glad you are all doing well! i would love to hear you sing!! <3

  21. good luck cutting out the junk food! i'm almost on my third week of no junk food/fast food/bread/blah blah blah and while it was a little hard at first, it's pretty easy now. you can do it! :)
