Weekday Life

We try to stay out of the house as much as possible on the weekends, but when D's at work my week days usually consist of a quick cold coffee, a work out, doing household chores while Rowan naps, playing with her when she's awake, watching some shows on Netflix and taking ridiculous pictures of myself in Photobooth in between browsing my favorite internet sites and recording.
Next thing ya know, D's home from work and it's time to eat dinner and hang out as a family.
It's super glamorous.

11 Things

Dani tagged me in her 11 Things post.. so here we go!

There are five rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random things
3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post
4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them that you've tagged them.

11 Random Things

1. I'm pretty obsessed with Kathie Lee and Hoda on the Today Show every weekday morning. I think they're hilarious and fun.

2. I chopped my hair off right before high school (a super short pixie cut) and it was the dumbest decision ever.. I was in the awkward "growing out your hair" stage all through high school and didn't know how to style it properly in the mean time. It was hideous. Seriously.

3. I really hate it when there aren't sidewalks in residential areas! Especially because I don't like exercising with Rowan in the stroller on the road.

4. I live in Hawaii and yet we hardly ever go to the beach anymore. I guess I've just been taking Hawaii for granted after living here for 16 years. I've decided to change my ways, and will definitely be taking Rowan to the beach way more often from here on out.

5. I'm extremely aware of how lucky we have it with Rowan as first-time parents and that's part of why I'm scared to have another baby. Rowan has slept 10 hours a night every night since she was 2 months old, handles teething really well, is very sweet and friendly and smart, is extremely cuddly and yet not excessively needy by any means and only just two weeks ago started throwing mini tantrums(that still aren't that bad at all, mostly just a high pitched scream here and there) and is just the easiest kid ever. I feel like it's only natural that our next will be a complete hellion and push us to our limits and I'm just not ready for that. Though that's a risk we'll have to take someday..

6. Recording my album right now has been one the the most fun things about this year so far but to be honest it's also utterly terrifying. I'm so harsh on myself and worried that no one will even want to listen to it when I'm done that sometimes I doubt myself into wanting to just quit. But this is my one goal for the year and I've promised myself that no matter what, I will finish it, whether people like it or not.

7. I'm really into The Vampire Diaries on Netflix right now. I just started it this past weekend and it took a few episodes to get into it but now I'm addicted. No shame!

8. If Derek and I ever manage to get together an out of country trip, our first stop will hands down be London.

9. The thing I daydream about most lately is having a big back yard. We only have balconies and a little grass and I want Rowan to have a bit more to run around in.

10. I loooooooooooooove period shows/movies. I'm obsessed with the past and if I could have one super power it would be the ability to time travel to any place!

11. I think Skype is one of the greatest things ever invented! I've had the opportunity to "meet" and chat with all sorts of cool chicks that I've met through the internet and I think I'm kind of addicted now. There are so many more of you that I'd love to video chat with sometime!

Questions from Dani:
1.  If money, schooling or time was no obstacle, what career would you choose?
I'd be a musician of course! Preferably a paid one..

2. What's the one thing you look forward to every day?
My morning coffee with Rowan by my side.

3. What is your number one, all-time, favorite blog?
Currently it would have to be A Beautiful Mess because Elsie posts about EVERYTHING and she is so on top of things I honestly don't know how she does it all. I think she's super human.

4. Biggest online pet peeve?
Feeling like you got to the point with someone where you could call them a real friend and then they stop "talking" to you online. Guess I was wrong!

5. What is your all-time favorite book?
The Hunger Games. Seriously.

6. What would your "last meal" be?
Probably the carne asada taco plate at our favorite mexican place here. Or just a cheeseburger and fries with ranch dip.

7. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Sure!

8. What would your ideal Sunday morning consist of?
Coffee, brunch and then doing something outdoors with Derek and Rowan.

9. Why do you blog?
It used to be to document my pregnancy, then after I had Rowan it became a place to document life in general.
It still is, I'm just not as hard on myself about documenting every.single.day. Now I understand that this is my space (no matter how many readers there are) and I can do with it what (and when) I please.

10. If you had to choose one color to wear forever, what would you pick?
Black.

11. What's your all time favorite band?
No Doubt. I'm still their number one groupie. Loyalty at it's finest.

Questions for the ladies I will be tagging:
1. Who's your #1 celebrity crush?
2. What's your zodiac sign?
3. Do you feel your age?
4. If you already have a kid(s)- do you want more? If you don't- do you want to have kids?
5. Which movie character (not the star playing them!) do you think you're most like?
6. What's your favorite cocktail ever?
7. If you could trade places with any blogger for a week, who would it be?
8. Could you have ever been a contestant on Fear Factor?
9. Are you a morning or night person?
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
11. If you had to live in a reality tv show, which would it be?

And finally, I tag: Caitlin, Jess, Chels, Erin, Steph, Mandey, Ivelisse, Ali, Hannah, Maryam and Cora!

Our Saturday

Our Saturday was spent on North Shore. Derek's long-time friend and bandmate, and my friend as well, was getting married so Derek was a groomsman and had to be there really early in the day. Rowan and I tagged along to help where we could and enjoy the sunshine. The ceremony was beautiful, followed by a super fun night time reception under twinkling lights and they flew Chris Murray out to play! It was so fun seeing so many of our friends in one place and a lot of them had still never met Rowan so she was a big hit. She definitely knew how to get down with them all on the dance floor.
It's nice to see all of our friends starting to get married and have babies and how far we've all come by eachothers' side.
I'm so happy for you, Josh and Jen!

Valentine's Day

Our V-day was filled with all things cliche and I loved it. Flowers, balloons, gifts, chocolates and a nice dinner at home with our sweet little lady Rowan.
Hope you all had a nice day yesterday too.

What Up

Sooo my parents are gone and I'm not happy about it. I can't even tell you how great it was to have them here. We had such a blast and I'm really missing them something fierce but hopefully we'll be able to visit again soon.
Life around here, other than having visitors, has been pretty darn normal. Errands and chores and being parents and getting into arguments because I'm super irritable (though working out has helped my pissy moods lately) and oh yea working out.
I put my music stuff on hold while the 'rents were here because I don't like recording when people are around. Not even Derek... so I cram all of that in when Rowan's napping and try to write a little even when she's up.
Other than the album there are some things I'm wanting to do:
- Color/cut my hair again. It's been way too long and I think I might even add some crazy streaks.
- Get another tattoo. Sorry mom.
- Work out harder. I bought some sweet new kicks and I plan on running them into the ground.
- Have a themed party. We used to have at least one good party a month but we haven't had one since our Mad Men party and that equals withdrawals.
- Watch season 2 (the episodes that are out that is) of Downton Abbey online. I plowed through the first season on Netflix with my mom and I'm obsessed. P.S. Speaking of shows I'm obsessed with, Mad Men's back out in March and I have my Whiskey Sour ready!
- Give this blog a makeover.
- Finish some changes I've been making to Rowan's nursery.
- Redecorate our living room 'cause I'm over it. We never "finished" the living room anyway but I just need a change because it's the one room in the house I've never really loved.
- Blog more often again. I used to be an every day blogger and now I'm turning into a practically never blogger. I mentioned in this post that I'd gotten my priorities straight when it came to blogging/the internet but I changed my mind. Must. Balance. A. Bit. Better.

So that's what's up.
Here are some pictures of my life lately:
