We spent our Thanksgiving with my parents at P. F. Chang's, which is where we go every year now. It’s relaxing, there’s no stressful grocery shopping or cooking involved and none of us are massive traditional Thanksgiving food fans so it’s awesome (I mean we don’t dislike it, we just don’t get excited about it either). We walked around Waikiki after dinner and checked out the International Market Place and the Christmas sand sculptures that they put up at The Sheraton hotel. It was a rainy day but it made our food coma’s all the more cozy later on. I hope you all are having a great long weekend. We’ve mostly been Christmas shopping and eating lots of take out. No complaints here. Happy Saturday!

Yesterday I had a much needed night out to dinner with a couple of friends and boy do I miss doing that regularly! I’ve been such a hermit this year, especially since getting pregnant, and last night reminded me why friend time is so insanely important. Hopefully we can start making it happen more often but schedules get crazy and I have good days and bad days so we’ll see.. it’s a little difficult for me to commit to things sometimes but I’m pushing myself to do things even if I don’t feel very good. The awful days? No. I’m home. But I had my “head stuff” last night and got through it just fine.
Anyway, here’s to restaurant week, friendship and mocktails!
November 10, 2016
How far along: 22 weeks, 2 days. 5 1/2 months!
Baby size: 11 inches long and almost weighs 1 pound ( about the size of a spaghetti squash).
Must have items: Cocoa butter lotion and my belly band because none of my pants fit (actually I’ve already been using the belly band for weeks, just failed to mention until now). Although I do think it’s time to start shopping around for some good maternity jeans because I’m sick of the band and don’t want to wear leggings everyday. Also longer dresses, I just can’t deal with shorter dresses right now at all.
Sleep: It’s fine unless I wake up for more than a minute. Then I’m wide awake for at least an hour. Annoying but an inconvenience I’ll take any day over most other pregnancy probs.
Baby movement: She’s a karate kid I tell ya’.
Favorite moment: Rowan has been so excited about a friend’s upcoming wedding that we’re attending and talks about it everyday as if it were Christmas morning. She plans her outfit, accessories, hair, makeup and I’m pretty sure she thinks she’s going to a royal ball. Yesterday she told my dad that she’s actually marrying him at the wedding. She’s told Derek that she would marry him as well. Of course, we’ve explained a thousand times that you can’t marry your family members but I just think it’s so sweet how excited she is and how much she loves the men in her life.
Least favorite moment: You know the drill by now, I’m not a fan of the lightheaded spells or “the boat” feelings. They come and go and some days are way better than others but I’m slowly learning better ways to cope with it all.

We spent November 1st at the mermaid lagoon since Rowan was out of school for parent/teacher conferences. It was windy but we enjoyed having the breeze when the sun got to be too much. Rowan built little sandcastles and decorated them with seashells, dumped water on her head, saw a flying fish and overall enjoyed her day running wild on the sand. Hawaii is crazy expensive and gives you island fever from time to time, but at the end of the day it’s an amazing place to raise a family and I feel very lucky to have been here myself for the last 20 years. It’s always fun to dream about living somewhere else because I’ve been here so long but I hope we’re at least here long enough that Rowan and this next baby are old enough to remember their experiences here.

Trick or treating was a success! My only gripe is that Rowan surprisingly didn’t want to stay out as long as I thought she would and I was having so much fun roaming the neighborhood and looking at all the costumes. How could my biological child not want to stay out all night long on Halloween?! Pretty sure it’s just because she wanted to go home and start eating candy already. As for our costumes, I took different pieces from past costumes and went as a Victorian masquerader. Rowan was supposed to wear a masquerade costume with me but decided on Halloween day to be Cinderella, and gone are the days that I control her costume decisions, so Cinderella she was. Derek went as Alan carrying Carlos from The Hangover. It was hilarious how many people thought he was just an un-costumed dad wearing his real baby. We kept hearing “awww look his baby is wearing sunglasses!” lol. It was super fun and I can’t wait to trick or treat with another little costumed family member next year. Hope you all had a fun night!
